Bits and pieces…

Since my blogging break in October, we have had lots of different events take place. So, here are some photos of recent celebrations.

Grandpa and Grandma Casner celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October.

We found the idea for new clothes for the girls’ Barbies and Pollys over here. Hannah has had a great time with this project.

And here is one of the pretty puffs slouchy hats I crocheted last month. I found the pattern here.(Another photo is in the sewing/crochet section.)
This was my first one. I would still not have completed this project if it wasn’t for the help of Keitha!!

Thoughts of Thanksgiving.

The kids and I have been doing a bit of talking about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving. There are a couple of stories we are going to share together over the next few days. I thought I would pass on some links that you may be interested in.

And, finally, the apple galette I made a few couple of weeks ago. If you are in the mood for pie, but don’t want to mess with extra time involved with your crusts, this is the way to go. Thank you “Martha Stewart Everyday Food”.

Slowing down for a day.

I feel like most days are jam-packed from 6 am on. With Thanksgiving almost here, and any Christmas presents to finish, (that is a good thing-a real excuse to sew, knit and crochet) and Mat’s schedule even busier then normal, life has seemed a bit out of control at times. Today I had no classes to teach and it was a short school day since the kid’s cousin, Isaiah, came over to play. Since it was a special day, we decided to make a trip to visit the kid’s Great Grandma.

Hannah made her first peach cobbler to take along with us. Grandma made some lunch to share. We ate and chatted and had a great time. On the way home we found some bittersweet along the road. A bonus to a wonderful morning. 🙂 A wonderful intermission.

Short story by Hannah.

Hannah loves to write. Lately she has started a series on farm animals. After she finishes writing, she practices her typing. So, this is all of Hannah’s work. 🙂

THE CHICKEN THAT WANTED A FRIEND

BY: HANNAH CASNER
FOR: All the chicken lovers.

Chapter 1

I am a Plymouth named Martha. I loved to be around the Americanas, Crystal. [ Rockie and Arannia.
Crystal and Arannia every spring. Arannia was Martha’s best friend. Martha was the Plymouth on the farm.
She laid was one of the best egg layers in the farm. Rockie was a rooster and he mated with Crystal and Arannia every year. I layed the most delicious brown eggs. I also loved to be around the farmer’s wife. Because she adopted me when I was a chick. A few years afterI had laid eggs about one year the farmer told his wife, “I am going to sell Martha tomorrow so I can buy more Americanas.”Okay,”said his wife sadly. The next day the farmer took me to town. All day he called out,”Hen for sale best eggs in town”.
The next morning when the farmer came to me and saw a little girl at the age of nine. Named Hannah, sitting beside me. And said,”I would like to buy the hen please.”
“Okay,” said the farmer. After Hannah had paid she took me home. And showed her Mom and Dad and of corse Tex her rooster. And in my heart I thought I have always wanted a little girl to be my friend.

I’m on a blog vacation…

for a couple of weeks. I am gearing up for Christmas present preparation, so I am taking some time off from the world of blogging. 🙂

I did take some photos of the kids today for Christmas photos for family. Here is a peek.
