Liz’s new sparkle shoes and smile… they will brighten up anyone’s day.
My new favorite food.
I found a recipe for Sweet Potato Fries in a recent Martha Stewart Everyday. I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit and now add seasoning salt and cinnamon and suger. (Thanks for the idea Stephanie.)
I’m sorry for the shadows. I originally planned on using a pattern from Lotta’s book. But, since I have been putting it off since May, I just made a quick and simple bag (also inspired by her book). I added a pocket on the inside.

Last week I had several surprises.
Our friend and neighbor Judy (or “Granny” as the kids call her) showed up with a box of crocheted items along with pillow cases and even a pattern book for crochet table coverings from 1942. Very cool.
Alli trying some of them on.
And then another friend I love getting to catch up with,Blair, came by and brought this awesome book. I can’ wait to try the recipes.
But that wasn’t all. I actually made it to Suzanne’s on time for once. Even with another craft fair this weekend, she made some time for us to spend with the llamas and chickens.
Thank you all.

The front of the hat turned out alright. However, the back is another picture. I made a series of decreases that I should not have done. For my second hat, I have found a new friend willing to help me out – even over the phone. 🙂 The pattern I found somewhere at someone’s blog. Somehow I lost their address, I will post it if I find it again.

We made a trip to Tree by the Sea today. We were hoping to see their new sheep. Instead, the llamas paid us a visit. 🙂

Today we went on a field trip with Suzanne, Logan and Lukas. They were there to purchase a couple of ram and ended up with two rams and two ewes. We just enjoyed being so close to the ewes.

I found this idea in the latest Family Fun. It WAS fun, we all had a good time making our goard people/aliens…
Allison’s girl goard.
Hannah’s Trumpeteer Swan.
Lizzie’s girlie.
Luke’s alien. Please notice the 3 eyes… His newest version has stick legs instead of toothpicks. He stands much taller now.

I love when the air is a bit crisp and it is cool enough to wear jeans and think about Hot Chocolate anytime of the day. This morning on my run I could feel the cooler weather blowing in. This is my favorite time of year. 🙂 I hope it stays and doesn’t warm up again. {edited: it did warm up into the 80’s again today.}
Random life happenings. Last week the flu hit with Hannah and Luke. Thankfully, no one else seemed to get it.
The kids and I planted lettuce and broccoli 9 days ago. We tried 3 different spots. Two of the three plots are growing well. We will see what happens with the cooler weather.
Lizzie loves to help me in the kitchen. She helps prepare food at least twice a day. Today, she helped make quesadias for lunch. (And Hannah made homemade mac and cheese to go with supper.)
One of my friends, Suzanne has been swamped preparing for Arts and Crafts fair – 3 weekends in a row. She makes amazing soaps and candles. They are all fund-raisers to help bring their girls they are adopting from Haiti. You can find them at her blog Tree by the Sea,.
I have been knitting and crocheting when I have a chance. Also working on another skirt to wear for Autumn.
Here is my first crochet project. A small purse for Hannah. It does lay flat, I just had a hard time when trying to photograph it.

We found Mac taking a nap in Luke’s bed. Luke thought he needed a stuffed animal to rest better.
This rose opened up yesterday. My last rose for the season. Usually, my rose bushes are looking dead this time of year. I guess my extra effort to maintain my flowers has paid off.
