Hannah’s Birthday Party Photos

House work.

I really dislike housework. When I just had one kiddo, even two. It wasn’t so bad. I could clean, and it would remain clean for a little while. Not now. It is just discouraging. It isn’t like mowing, the yard at least looks good for a few days. Nope, one moment it is clean, the next it is not.

Just throwing the thought out there. Doesn’t mean I can avoid it (or at least for too long.) ๐Ÿ™‚

Hannah’s seventh birthday party

Just an update on our weekend. Hannah’s soccer team won on Saturday. I think it was 5 to 1. I should have recorded the score the day of, I may be off by a goal… This weekend is a double header. I’ll write it down before we leave the fields. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hannah also had her “friend” birthday party. She had a wonderful time. We had a treasure hunt. I made a map and they used it to find the treasure chest (we have one from my Grandma and Grandpa Burwick) which we filled with candy. We played pin the bow on Cinderella. We ate Casey’s pizza. Matheau decorated (designed would be a better description) Sleeping Beauty cake. And the girls made scrapbooks. I think they had a great time. I did. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alli had a great time participating in the party. And Luke-even though he would totally loved hanging out with the girls-was having a good time of his own. He went with Grandpa Mark, Grandma Donna and his cousin Jeremiah to Silver Dollar City. His highlights were the fish, Fire in the Hole and the go-carts.

It rained, so we woke up to thunder and water in the basement. We spent a lot of the morning pumping water out of the basement with the shop vac. And to top that off, Michael went to the hospital and has a kidney stone. We are praying it passes soon. He spent the night on Sunday there.

To end on a high note, Janie came Saturday morning. Janie is an amazing lady. She cleaned part of the house for me. And when we were pumping water Sunday morning. My happy thought was, “At least Janie was here yesterday to help out.” She has come one other time and she finished painting Elizabeth’s room. The rooms she cleaned on Saturday, well, they are better then when we moved into our home. Wonderful is she. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alli Ruth turns three!

Today is Alli’s big day. She ended up getting to spend the night with Grandma Donna, Grandpa Mark and Jeremiah. (Last minute… :)) Perfect way for her to end her big day. More then anything, Alli loves her Grandparents. Many times throughout the week she will ask about them and want to go to their house.

I wrote the following for a layout I am going to do for Alli to celebrate her birthday. I thought I would include it here.

Alli Ruth is growing up. Today she turned three.
She is funny and blond and her bright blue eyes shout โ€œI am BUSY!โ€
She is independent and changes her clothes at least
five times a day. I tell her way too often to go and change.
She loves to be apart of whatever her brother and sisters are doing. Tends to scream when she doesnโ€™t get her way.
She loves for me to read to her. She is amazing with puzzles. She always amazes our Parentโ€™s As Teacher Educator, Janet. Janet is always saying, โ€œDid you see that? Wow-WOWโ€โ€ฆ
Her speech is advanced for her age and she has been speaking in paragraphs for as long as I can remember.
She draws faces with a circle, mouth, nose and eyes.
Her favorite color is pink.
She doesnโ€™t talk as much as Hannah or Luke. That may be because they donโ€™t stop. Even though they talk all the time., she will quietly repeat them-all the time. (Unless she realizes that she has a different goal in mind.)
When you ask her how old she is. Her favorite response is โ€œSix.โ€
She loves to drink milk. She would prefer a sippy cup. She also is a pretty good eater for her age.
She is potty trained-awesome!
If she is in trouble for doing something she shouldnโ€™t. (Which is a lot lately.) She will quickly say, โ€œI am sorry.โ€ and โ€œI promise to not do it again.โ€
She likes to find wands and say โ€œbibby bobby, boo.โ€
She loves dress up shoes and crowns. She is either a princess or a ballerina. Depending on which dress-up outfit she has on.
She is lovely – full of life and a joy to be around. Even at the volatile age of three.

What are you looking for?

A bit of rambling this morning…

I read this from “Fresh Brewed Life” today. ” It’s true, what we don’t have shapes us more than what we have. We are like Swiss chesse, and the holes in us are actually supposed to be there. The holes are the things that make us who we are. The holes are the places God has reserved in us for Himself! The longings identify our real hunger. A hunger that drives us to Him to be satisfied. If…big if…we listen.”

I know in this photo, Elizabeth is looking for either an acorn, or rock that she can put in her mouth. Why would I take a picture of such a silly, one year old thing? Because it is who she is. She is constantly putting weird things into her mouth. None of the kids have done it to the extent she has. I want to remember that when she is fifteen. Because when she is fifteen, she will be looking so much more. She will be trying to find her place in our family and in her world. Just like still, at thirty-one, some days I am doing the same thing.

I don’t think the longings we have ever end. Until we are in heaven. But like Nicole Johnson points out, we have longings, but what are we going to do with them? How do I pass that one to Elizabeth, and Hannah, and Alli Ruth, and Luke. Can’t force them to turn to the Lord to find out why they feel the way they do, or will. But I can live it myself. And I mean, LIVE -not just go through the motions. And pray that they get it.

Weekend full of fun!

To catch up on events at our home-or at least the ones that stand out. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Luke got stitches in his chin Weds. afternoon. It took 50 minutes and 3 adults to put four stitches in. He tripped and his chin hit the edge of the bunk beds. Luke and the wood are fine. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m not saying anything else about it.

Thursday, while Luke was a preschool, the girls and I went to our first home school co-op meeting. I am excited about joining the co-op. It is a stretch for me. But the Mom’s seem great and it is giving Hannah an opportunity to cover topics in science we would not on our own. Plus, she gets a small of what public education is like. I think she is happier then ever about home schooling. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I am glad.

Saturday Hannah had her first soccer game. She did a super job. Fell down a few times but she popped up and kept on keeping on. She even worked her way into the mass of boys and kicked the soccer ball when she could. We are very proud of her. I’ll try to post some photos tomorrow. Grandpa Rick, Grandma Moni and Grandma Donna were able to come and watch as well. They also helped with the kids. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

After the game, we went to McDonalds and then home to get ready for the birthday party. We celebrated all three girls birthdays. Elizabeth, Allison and Hannah. It was a lot of fun. Always great to spend time with our family. We are blessed to have the wonderful families that we do.

Well, my iPod is charging. I’m off to bed. It is going to be another busy, adventure-filled week. And as Hannah prayed tonight. “help Mom and Dad go to bed early tonight. That way they won’t be grouchy in the morning.” And since the kids are all up before the sun.. I’m going to bed early.

First day of preschool, homeschool…

Busy day for Mom today. Alli Ruth had preschool to test her speech. They asked her to come back on a regular basis to be a peer model. What does that mean? Our daughter has a wonderful vocabulary and is an all around cool girl to be around. ๐Ÿ™‚

Luke started preschool today. I didn’t think it would be hard for me to drop him off. I have been so worried about him giving hugs not tackles. And just to be himself, but a bit more mellow. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But when we put his backpack up and he was carrying his supplies over to their work table… he turned and wanted to make sure he was going to the right place. I could see he was grasping the importance of preschool. That it just wasn’t discovery hour or Awanas. It made my heart skip a beat.

Hannah and I started school also. We already tackled the seven continents, where Capri is on a world map. Also Psalm 24, we we don’t know a lot about dinasaurs, what are fossils, compound spelling words, and what is needed in a sentence that is making a statement. (A period). It is going to be an exciting school year.

A bit of rambling now. ๐Ÿ™‚ One thing about being a Mom I just wanted to put down. You know when I am thinking inside “oh my, we are going to be sooo busy. How am I going to keep up? When am I going to have time for me? You know what I say to the kids? (And probably every other Mom out there like me.) “We are going to have a blast this week! You are going to have so much fun!” I am so thankful that God helps me curb my own emotions, so that I don’t ruin everyone elses week. Also, it helps my attitude just telling them the positives verses thinking what “I” don’t get to do.

Quote of the day.

“I need two Batman costumes. One for Halloween and one to save the world.”-Luke, age 4 1/2.
